Dr Nishat Hyder-Rahman is an academic with expertise across the fields of family law, medical law, and bioethics. She has extensive experience as a researcher and lecturer in the UK, the Netherlands, and Belgium. Nishat is particularly interested in the cross-border movement of families and the socio-legal complexities this can lead to. She is currently based at Vrije Universiteit Brussel as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Brussels Research Institute on Development, Governance and Empowerment, through Law), where she contributes to teaching and research in (private) international family law. Her work is informed by human rights and gender-based analyses of law in context. At GlobalARRK, Nishat undertakes and collaborates on legal research on international family relocation and matters relating to the 1980 Hague Convention on Child Abduction.
