Please note: The court will only allow young people to have their own lawyer under special circumstances. In the majority of cases Cafcass will be able to pass on the views and feelings of young people in this situation.

If you would like to have your own lawyer, it is best that you contact the lawyer yourself as this shows you’re grown up enough to know what you want. You will receive free legal support, unless you have savings or income. Ask the lawyer to help you get the legal aid.

Here are a list of lawyers that are experienced at representing young people in Hague Convention cases.
